Motorola bought Symbol
Motorola has bought Symbol for a “symbolic” price of $3.9 bln. Motorola says it will buy till late 2006 or early 2007. Well, nice purchase. My congrats to them. But there are few questions rising: for what purposes Motorola has bought Symbol and what it will do next with this company. I’ll try to answer first question.
As you know at last time Symbol was too active on making new technologies on mobile computers, and now it has over 900 patents. As for me Motorola wants to improve itself on the market of mobile computers. Symbol has had connections with Microsoft. Will Microsoft continue co-work with Motorola? As you know Motorola builds it’s smartphones on Linux too. Well, future will show us all.
